S.
L. Williamson Company, Inc is an asphalt paving company. We
have been in business for over 50 years, and the company has third
generation management. S. L. Williamson, a graduate of Virginia
Military Institute, founded the company in Charlottesville, VA
in 1949. He was the President of the company until his death in
1971. Stirling Williamson
Jr., also a Virginia Military Institute
alumnus, joined the company in 1961 and served as President from
1971 until 2002, at which time he became Chairman of the Board
of Directors and Chief Executive Officer. Blair Williamson, an
alumna of the Virginia Tech School of Architecture and a Registered
Architect in the State of Virginia, joined the firm in 1992. She
was elected Vice President in 1998 and in 2002 she became President,
the position she currently holds. Shawn Mooney, Executive Vice
President and Blair Williamson, President, run the day-to-day operation.
Our office and shop are located at 1230 River Road in Charlottesville,
Virginia. We have three asphalt plants that produce bituminous
concrete, commonly know as plant mix asphalt, in central Virginia.
These asphalt plants are located at Shadwell (east of Charlottesville)
and Red Hill (south of Charlottesville) both in Albemarle County
and in Ruckersville (north of Charlottesville) in Greene County.
Our business is composed of private, commercial and VDOT (VA Department
of Transportation) projects as well as projects for the City
of Charlottesville and the University
of Virginia. We are active in
the Virginia Asphalt Association, the National
Asphalt Pavement Association, the Association
of General Contractors of Virginia,
the Virginia Transportation Construction
Alliance, and the Old
Dominion Highway Contractors Association.
