GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Safety-focused drivers with a great driving records needed! This is a full-time seasonal (typically March - December) hourly position with benefits.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

​

• Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with SL Williamson Co. (SLWCO) standards. Wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), supplied by SLWCO.

• Operate Equipment. Operate dump truck in accordance with all federal, state, and SLWCO regulations. Receive loads at asphalt plants or field locations and drive to the job site. Drive truck to job site and deliver material and clean truck to minimize buildup.

• Inspect and Maintain Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Clean the outside of the vehicle to ensure the absence of build-up at the end of each shift.

• Document and Record Information. Complete all forms, service reports, tickets, and required paperwork to ensure organization of documents and needed paperwork.

• Coordinate with Dispatch. Work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service.

• Hauling asphalt and stone base to paving and grading crews

• Some night work and weekend work required in the summer

 

SKILLS YOU'LL NEED:

​

• Ready to Drive. Must possess a commercial driver’s license and have a valid DOT physical.

• Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing dump trucks is preferred. Experience with Virginia Department of Transportation rules and regulations is preferred.

• Clean Driving Record. Must have a clean and safe driving record and the ability to safely operate and control equipment while on the job.

• Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime, occasional nights and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

• Safely operate a company vehicle as needed

• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

REQUIREMENTS:

​

• Class B CDL

• Safe driving record

• High school diploma or GED Equivalent

• Must be able to work in multiple locations
