Our paid internship program provides opportunities for students to gain experience in their field of study, determine if they have an interest in a road construction career — and what side of the operation they have an interest in — and aids in building relationships and a network of construction contacts. Interns generally work during the summer months, with a minimum work term of 12 weeks.

At a Paid S.L. Williamson Company Internship,
you will gain advanced knowledge while carving your own path:
QUALITY CONTROL
-
Shadow lab technicians in the field and the Asphalt Lab, calculating density and other variables
-
Take samples from plants
-
Assist in statistical rock analysis
-
Assist with asphalt mix design
-
Test sample in Lab
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
-
Work closely with the project team to develop plans, means and methods for a successful project
-
Perform quantity takeoff and assist in the pre-construction process
-
Review job cost during construction
-
Assist PM with RFIs, submittals, change orders, owner billings, and more
FIELD LEADERSHIP
-
Assist in planning, coordination, scheduling, material delivery, daily scheduling, and general layout

Interpret and monitor crews, cost factors and production management
-
Operate small equipment
-
Assist with traffic control and safe field operations
ASPHALT PLANT TECHNICIAN

Operate plant controls to ensure efficient production

Monitor inventory of materials used in production

Assist in the safe operation and maintenance of the asphalt plant

Work closely with Quality control to ensure sampling requirements are met
